TALITHA KUMI, or the resurrection by faith !

By Roger DIKU

This was the fourth edition of the Annual Symposium organised by the Audacious Faith International Church (AFIC), UK.  ‘Talitha Kumi’, drawn from the gospel of Mark 5:41 (Taking her by the hand he said to her, “Talitha Kumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”), was the underlying central theme for this conference.  This fourth convention was led by Reverend Pastor Sam Sunday Adeosum, a regular speaker at these conferences since the first three programings.

By the invitation of the Senior Pastor Didier Kuku J Hyde, Head of AFIC in the UK, several other pastors joined him to celebrate what they titled the ‘Resurrection Time for the People of God’ at the elegant location of The Riverside Community Centre in Derby for the first two days. The final bouquet was celebrated at their usual place of worship at Normanton, Upper Dale Road, Normanton Derby DE23 8BP at St Augustine’s Church.

The main preacher, Reverend Pastor Sam Sunday Adeousun, during his session, articulated that it was more than time for us to get rid of anything that could move us away from the calling of God upon our lives: this may include self, some friends and he also extended a call for us to examine our everyday circumstances.  From the first day, Reverend Adeosun emphasised that it was never too late, in life, to make your requests known to God because there was no impossibility in Him.  It is your time to manifest the power of God in your life.  His hand is not too short to touch you so He can revive you, heal you and help you walk in your destiny.

It is time to stand up like the daughter of Jairus; this word is for everyone who believes.  ‘Talitha Cumi’ is the renaissance, the chance to rise to a new way forward; and the hope that we find in Christ when we put all our trust in Him.

Another guest, Evangelist Pastor Ferdinand Tambwe, had demonstrated to the congregation that the kingdom of heaven was a kingdom of principles.  Whoever would apply them, God would be with them.  Whoever would reject them, would have to bear the consequences.   As Jesus Christ said referring to the daughter of Jairus, God is seeking men and women who are willing to stand up for His kingdom.

Jairus, a chief of the synagogue, occupied a high rank position in the society of his time, yet he did not take this into consideration when it came to saving his daughter.  It took him a great deal of faith to bring Jesus Christ to his house when he heard that the Master was passing near his home.  On his way to see Jesus, he had said to himself that he would find the solution.   Jesus Christ had therefore activated his faith as explained in Hebrews 11: 1: « Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.  So therefore we need to activate our faith because without faith, it is impossible to please the Lord. We need this audacious faith.

The highlight

The strongest and most intense moment of the 4th edition of the AFIC, UK Symposium was the ordination ceremony of the new associates in the work of the ministry, although they were already serving in the church for several years. Three members of the AFIC-Nottingham branch were ordained: Elder Joel Kabamba Mukumbayi ordained as Pastor, Evangelist Joli Ekwe Ngamali confirmed in his ministry and our Sister Bijoux Lokoto Akaya ordained as Youth Minister, Head of the Youth Ministry within the Church. As we know, it is the children who will become the Assembly of the Christians of the future.
